Blotted Out

"I,
even I, am he that blotteth out thy transgressions for mine own sake,
and will not remember thy sins" (Isa. 43:25).
"I guess I'm just paying for the life I lived before I got saved," a
minister who was having a hard time once said to me.
Many Christians, like that minister, are defeated, permitting things to
take place in their lives, because they think that's the way it has to
be. They don't know the difference between repentance and doing penance.
They try to do penance for their past life. But in reality, since they
repented of their sins, God has no knowledge that they've ever done
anything wrong!
"I blotted out your transgression," God said, "for My own sake." God
didn't do it for your sake, but for His own sake. "I will not remember
your sins," He promised.
If God doesn't remember them, why should you?
You shouldn't!
When you were born again, you were redeemed from the penalty of sin. If
you had to go on paying for your wrongdoing, you'd have to go to hell
when you died, because that's part of the penalty too.
However, thank God, we are redeemed not only from the power of sin, but
also from the penalty of sin. Jesus took our place. He suffered the
penalty of sin.
Confession: When I repented, my Heavenly Father blotted out my
transgressions. He does not remember my sins. Therefore, I won't
remember them either. And I won't remind Him of them.
