Firstborn From the Dead
By Rev.
Kenneth E. Hagin
Who
his dear Son is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of every
creature: for by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and
that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or
dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him,
and for him: And he is before all things, and by him all things
consist.
And he is the head of the body, the church: who is the beginning, the
firstborn from the dead; that in all things he might have the
preeminence. For it pleased the Father that in him should all fullness
dwell. And, having made peace through the blood of his cross, by him to
reconcile all things unto himself; by him, I say, whether they be things
in earth, or things in heaven. (Col. 1:15-20)
Although He is coequal with the Father, the eternal Son of God accepted
a subordinate place and undertook the task of reconciling the world to
God through the blood of His Cross.
For this purpose, Jesus yielded Himself to death (Matt. 27:50).
When
Jesus was made to be sin (2 Cor. 5:21), He was turned over by God to
spiritual death, which is separation from God. This occurred when that
heart-breaking cry fell from Jesus' lips, "My God, My God, why hast thou
forsaken Me?"
Jesus' spirit was delivered up for our offenses, that He might be raised
for our justification (Rom. 4:25).
It was the wisdom of the Father that yielded Jesus, the Righteous One,
to death, that our debt might be paid, and Jesus might become the
Firstborn from the dead!
Confession: Thank You, Jesus, for dying for my sins. Thank You,
Jesus, that You paid my debt so that I might be free!
