The Importance of Your Words

Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it
shall eat the fruit thereof. (Prov. 18:21)
In 1951, I was holding a meeting in a town in Texas. We had day and
night teaching services. Between the services, I would walk up and
down the aisles of the church, praying and reading my Bible.
One day, I was reading the Book of Mark as I was on my knees near the
altar. I got tired, so I sat down on the floor and finished reading
the Book of Mark. Now I wasn't even thinking about Mark 11:23.
I was thinking about the sixteenth chapter of Mark, where Jesus said,
"Go into all the world, and preach the Gospel to every creature." Then
I got tired of sitting, so I just lay down on my back.
As I was lying there on my back with my hands under my head, staring
at the ceiling, I came to the place my mind got quiet. Then I heard
these words on the inside of me: "Did you notice in Mark 11:23 that
the word 'say' in some form is in that verse three times, and the word
'believe' is in there only once?"
I answered out loud, "No! No! I never did notice that." And I had read
that verse thousands of times. I turned the pages in my Bible back to
the eleventh chapter and read that verse again. I counted three times
that some form of the word 'say' was in there.
Then I heard these words on the inside of me, "My people are not
missing it primarily in their believing because they have been taught
to believe and to have faith.
My
people are missing it in what they say." Many times, that's what
happens when it comes to healing.
Confession I know that death and life are in the power of my
tongue. I line my words up with what God says about me. I believe that
I am healed, so I constantly speak words of health and healing out of
my mouth.
